We have an exciting new opportunity for a Director, Human Resources within Huntington Ingalls Industries Technical Solutions Division - Nuclear and Environmental Group.

The Technical Solutions division of Huntington Ingalls Industries is a professional services business providing mission-critical and practical solutions to a wide variety of government and commercial customers worldwide. This newly formed HII Division is made up of four groups: Fleet Support, Integrated Mission Solutions, Nuclear & Environmental, and, Oil & Gas.

We employ more than 5,000 people working in 35 states and 11 countries, with mobile “fly-away” teams that support emergent situations around the globe.

Responsibilities:

  • The Director HR Nuclear and Environmental Group (N&EG) will collaborate with business leadership to establish HR strategies and tactical execution plans to achieve business objectives. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the HR function in support of the business group, to include Newport News Industrial and Stoller Newport News Nuclear, ensuring coordination and alignment with HII and the Technical Solutions Division plans, policies and procedures. N&EG has over 530 employees, with 8 worksites in the US, and internationally.

  • This key position will serve as the business group HR lead for ongoing Division stand up and integration efforts ensuring the unique requirements of the N&EG business are met as the formation continues.

  • Implement benefit, savings plan and compensation changes across the N&EG business to include addressing special communication requirements and briefings to the leadership and employee population.

  • Collaborate with Division and cross business resources to establish best practices for the Technical Solutions Division.

  • Support new business proposal efforts and associated contract and JV transitions and startups.

  • Partner with leadership to build workforce capabilities and optimize a leadership factory within the Nuclear and Environmental group. Contribute to broader enterprise talent and workforce development initiatives.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or relevant discipline plus a minimum of 15 years of progressive professional human resources experience.

  • Master’s degree human resources, business administration or related discipline with at least 8 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience leading HR teams to support businesses of comparable size and complexity in the government services industry, Department of Energy preferred.

  • Depth and breadth of experience including staffing, compensation, employee relations, global mobility, labor relations, talent management, performance management, organizational design and development, ethics and compliance. Provide the organization a strong understanding of US labor laws and compliance obligations.

  • Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to create purpose, deliver excellence, influence change, and develop both self and others for the purpose of achieving business results.

  • Demonstrated ability to pro-actively diagnose and understand the implications of business strategy and translate this knowledge into HR action plans.

  • Superb skills in stakeholder analysis, change management, relationship-building, managing conflict.

  • Ability to travel about 20%

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations in the technical solutions and services domain particularly the Department of Energy preferred.

  • HR certifications preferred (PHR, SPHR, CCP)
